Tsunami Detection with HF radar
Tsunamis are very long ocean waves generated by catastrophic events such as the undersea earthquake in the Indian Ocean on December 26th 2004. Following that Tsunami there has been a lot of interest in the potential use of HF radar as part of a tsunami warning system.
